Largest Solar Filament Observed

February 22, 2010 SpaceWeather.com reported one of the Largest Filaments ever observed by scientists. NASA's new satellite, SDO (Solar Dynamics Observatory), captured HD images of the filament as it rotated into view.

The filament was estimated to be one million kilometers long, one of the longest ever observed.
