SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 Are You Symptomatic? Anyone You Know?

Recommended Posts

From the WHO-China Joint Mission Report (largest data base on the disease):

Symptoms of COVID-19 are non-specific and the disease presentation can range from no
symptoms (asymptomatic) to severe pneumonia and death. As of 20 February 2020 and
based on 55924 laboratory confirmed cases, typical signs and symptoms include: fever
(87.9%), dry cough (67.7%), fatigue (38.1%), sputum production (33.4%), shortness of breath
(18.6%), sore throat (13.9%), headache (13.6%), myalgia or arthralgia (14.8%), chills (11.4%),
nausea or vomiting (5.0%), nasal congestion (4.8%), diarrhea (3.7%), and hemoptysis (0.9%),
and conjunctival congestion (0.8%)

Additionally, emerging case histories suggest asymptomatic and pre-symptomatic people may be infectious (perhaps 1-2 days before symptoms).  For example, there are several conferences and meetings where no one present was symptomatically sick, but many people who were in attendance became ill with covid-19

I have been checking my 02 sats with an oximiter this past week. I have had the beginnings of bronchitis from eating things that make my sinuses run. It goes into my chest and gives me a chest cough.

Just came across an article (chasing down other information) and it appears that I am not alone in thinking I had the coronavirus in early Feb. A few here know that I was pretty sick during the beginn

Just got a text message from my brother this morning, who, along with his wife works in the first responder field. My brother's wife was exposed to a confirmed COVID case on the 6th. They were asked to self quarantine. So far they are not displaying any symptoms, of which I am very thankful for. As long as they are not symptomatic by this Friday, they will no longer be quarantined.

Maybe you should ask the question, 'Has anyone our there not experienced one of these symptoms in the last 2 months?'

I've experienced dry cough, though not lingering or lasting;

fatigue, probably from lack of sleep;

sputum production, occasionally, mostly in the morning;

shortness of breath, when I exercise a bit too hard;

sore throat, though not lingering or lasting;

headache, sure, only occasional;

myalgia or arthralgia, WTH is that?;

chills, not I don't think so;

nausea, probably,

vomiting, no; nasal congestion, sure, again not lingering or lasting;

diarrhea, same;

hemoptysis, see 'myalgia or arthralgia';

conjunctival congestion, same as hemoptysis.

Myalgia = muscle pain

Arthralgia = joint pain

Conjunctival congestion = watery eyes, discharge from mucus membranes of the eye

Hemoptysis =

Hemoptysis is the coughing up of blood or blood-stained mucus from the bronchi, larynx, trachea, or lungs. In other words, it is the airway bleeding.

Boy they sure like to obscure info with big words

Thanks, actually my comments were an attempt at humor, as I have both a search engine and a retired RN wife to find out these things.  I will add also to these resources, a treasured internet friend who lives up there in SW Oregon, around Grant's Pass, somewhere; a great resource, for sure.

A real answer would be a no on the hemoptysis, but probably some occasional occurrence of the other three big words.

And they deal in re-definition. Hemoptysis = scurvy, but localized, before going full hemorrhagic, which is fulminating scurvy.

But if they used the word scurvy then they would be giving away the treatment.

All of academia does this, just how they communicate.

Thank you for saying it in layman's terms. ❤️

Yes I think a friend of mine has it, she's having the worst "cold" of her life, she's got the whole list except the bleeding lungs.

A month ago when I got a cold, I told her about nebulizing essential oils and putting the oils on a tissue to put inside the fold of a turtleneck when going out and among people.  She started doing both of these things before she ever got ill , she started when another person on the land she lives at came down with this cold (or coronavirus.)

Even though she has had pneumonia several times, this "whatever" she has isn't coming anywhere near her lungs. I think the oils are making a difference for her.

BTW, regardless of where you fall on the spectrum of what you think is going on, this disease with a wide range of symptoms, is freaking people out, and impossible to know if you have it, unless you take a test and somebody tells you that you have it.  It is an invisible enemy as the president tweeted yesterday.  It is not like a pox, and somebody says hey you have a pox, and you look and say yup, I have a pox, and I will stay over here.  Now, you take the test, symptomatic or not, if they tell you that you have it, then they get to tell you what and where you do next, and probably tell the same to people you know.  I guess if you have a symptom then you have to decide carefully if you want a test?

So I totally get cowpoke's point above, and if you were a skeptic about what is going on, then they certainly have a disease here where it would be hard to find somebody who could claim that they have not exhibited one of the symptoms recently.  And to take the skepticism a bit further, if somebody needed a reason to tag anybody they wanted out for a time out, wow, they've got a perfect vehicle.

And also, if any hemoptysis shows up here, pretty sure I was always going to see the doctor, even pre-cov19 or the name of hemoptysis awareness!

Then I found out I may have been exposed to a coronavirus patient wed 3/18. I had already stopped eating wheat and dairy at the beginning of the week and I have been doing Chaga and Vit C daily for the month of march. Fri is when I found out the patient is in the hospital and waiting for confirmation from the CDC. Fri and Sat i dosed myself heavily per clifs recommendations. That much C and chaga gave me a real energy boost. I did not get the heat flushes like his sick patients got. i added a lung expectorant tincture and elderberry to try to clear my lungs. My 02 sats were lower than they should be for a healthy adult  last week at about 96-94. Today I took my 02 sats this morning and it was back up to 98 which is where it is at when I am healthy.

Don't forget that you need to have 6% CO2 in your bloodstream to allow the hemoglobin to release oxygen into the cells.... nose breathing should take care of that.

Do you know when you will find out one way one the other whether or not that patient has the virus? If they do, will you be self quarantining?

There has been information that it starts out in some people as a gastric disturbance. If that's the case then I've already had it and killed it. My friend Janet had it much rougher and survived it but now she is taking the copper ascorbate that I killed it with. We will definitely be watching for the supposed return of lung and bronchial issues a few days later.

Can't prove a word of it. Take it fwiw.

I should find out this week. She went into the hospital on Thurs.

I was supposed to see a patient on Sat and I was afraid to go. I would feel terrible if I got one of my elderly patients sick. I am going to talk to my boss about allowing me to do phone visits. As a home health social worker I do not need to take vital signs. Medicare has been discussing paying for phone visits. Before this they would not.

I was out shopping on Sat. My desk lamp shorted out and I needed a new one. That has been the first day out where I felt like "I should not be out here"  Before I was feeling like I had time to get things I needed to shelter in place. Honestly I would like my job much better if I could talk to my patients from my phone in my garden vs driving all over two counties.

Could you please post your copper recipe on the Covid 19 recipe thread.

Don't know anyone with it but in North Carolina it is gaining ground here.  Still very few test kits to get the big picture.    Pollen is falling now and unlike other years everything is blooming at the same time so looks like snow showers sometimes.   Allergies will confuse, I'm sure, and before this had five or six strains of flu (H1N1 being the big one) and each year two hundred cold virus's make the rounds.

Best write up I've seen and working at hospitals as support staff from 1974 to 2013 I kept up on flu research since I saw two hundred people a day sometimes but kept a four foot distance, too.  The child aspect of this not getting it is very suspicious.

Brother who recently returned from annual Aruba time share trip developed dry cough and low grade fever last week.  He and wife were tested last Tuesday.  Results came back today positive for Covid-19.  They are feeling much better this week; they have taken nothing but Tylenol.  They are both late-50's.  Fairly encouraging so far.

My bronchitis cough got worse yesterday. It seemed to be very irritated by the air put off by my UV disinfecting light bulb. I was using in the bathroom to hang and disinfect clothes. It creates a noticeable smell and it irritated my eyes and throat. Then i had a two hr phone call with an old friend and really got to coughing. I did read that the ozone from UV treatments can trigger asthma. So i may not be able to use that for disinfecting.

I still have not heard back about the woman i met who was being tested for Covid 19. She got tested last thurs i think. I did talk to the nurse at her facility. She said that the womans age COPD and pulmonary fibrosis were probably causing her symptoms. Also the woman did not have fever. The last of fever doesnt 100% cancel the possibility she has it but it makes it much more unlikely.

At any rate i am taking cliffs cocktail before bed. I took it last night and was much better today. I am taking it again tonight.

Here is my version

Hot peppermint tea

2ml chaga extract

1ml usnea tincture

1ml lung expectorant tincture

Teaspoon elderberry syrup

10 drops ionic zinc

500 mg powdered ascorbic acid Vit C

Shot of vodka

Teaspoon honey.

I also took 1,000 mg liposomal Vit C and 5,000 mg Vit D

I got word today that the person I was exposed to tested negative for Covid 19. Yay!

I am wearing a mask now to see all patients and do shopping. Yesterday when I wore a mask in the store, no one looked at me like I was weird. They had marks on the floor so people would stand 6' apart. One of the check out ladies was quite the hall monitor and got everyone to follow the new rules.

Sorry I was slow getting back to you with response.  Physically, brother and SIL are doing fine.  He's complaining that he's not sure when his employer will allow him to return to work now that he has the "stigma" of having been tested positive.  It will be at least another two weeks before any large manufacturing industry will resume operations, so he's not really carrying a burden in that regard at this point.  He is going a bit stir-crazy confined to the house for weeks.
